In this glTF virtual meet-up, we’ll take a deepdive into Blender updates supporting glTF material extensions, led by the Blender Foundation’s Julien Duroure. Then, Felix Herbst of the prefrontal cortex GmbH will walk us through their creation of an all-glTF workflow, including custom extensions.You will be able to post questions to our speakers during the session and at the concluding “Ask the Experts” session.

    Julien will demonstrate new features of the Blender glTF I/O in the Blender 3.3 release, especially relating glTF PBR material extensions.

    Felix will provide a overview of prefrontal cortex's use of glTF and extensions (ratified, draft, and vendor-specific) for Needle Engine, an interactive runtime based on three.js and designed around glTF. The discussion will include the composition of GLB files, arbitrary interactive components, advanced animation sequencing, cross-platform use of KHR_animation_pointer, and more. The talk will:

    • Explore the benefits and challenges of all glTF workflows
    • Analyze the potential for custom extensions
    • Prepare attendees to adopt similar models and extensions for their own workflows

  • Post you questions to our speakers and other glTF experts in this general Q&A session.
