Don't Panic: Kubernetes and Docker

You do not need to panic. It’s not as dramatic as it sounds. tl;dr Docker as an underlying runtime is being deprecated in favor of runtimes that use the Container Runtime Interface(CRI) created for Kubernetes. Docker-produced images will continue to work in your cluster with all runtimes, as they always have.

    KubernetesがDockershimを廃止する話は開発者にとっての影響はごく限定的なので、あんまりびっくりしなくていいよ、っていう話です。

    話題になっている k8s と Docker の関係性について。
    あくまでも Docker Desktop で k8s が利用できなくなるような、開発環境での Docker との関係性のはなしであって、

    Docker-produced images will continue to work in your cluster with all runtimes, as they always have.

    の記述が表すように、 Docker によって生成されたイメージ自体は継続的に利用できるという声明。

    不便な部分は出てくるものの、全体としては継続的に利用できそうなものの、containerdを中心にしたい流れはあることは気にしてウォッチしておくと良さそう。

    Kubernetes 公式ブログからも Docker 非推奨に関するエントリが出ている。想定していたよりコミュニティが混乱しているということなんだろう。
